Overview

ClickFile is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app processes all data locally on your Mac and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information.

Data Collection

ClickFile does not collect any data. Specifically:

  • No personal information is collected
  • No usage analytics or telemetry are gathered
  • No screenshots or file contents are transmitted anywhere
  • No network connections are made by the app
  • No cookies or tracking technologies are used
  • No third-party services or SDKs are integrated

Screen Recording Data

ClickFile uses the macOS Screen Recording permission solely to capture screenshots. Here is exactly how screen recording data is handled:

  • What is captured: Still images (screenshots) of your screen, a selected area, or a specific window. No video, audio, or continuous screen monitoring is performed.
  • How it is used: Each screenshot is displayed in a preview window where you can label and categorize it. When you click Save, the image is written as a PNG file to a folder you have chosen on your Mac. If you click Discard, the image is deleted from memory immediately.
  • Where it is stored: Screenshots are saved only to the local folder you selected on your Mac. No screenshot data is stored in any cloud service, remote server, or external location.
  • Third-party sharing: Screenshot data is never shared with any third party. ClickFile makes no network connections of any kind. No screenshot data leaves your Mac.
  • Retention and deletion: You have full control over your screenshots. They remain in the folder you chose until you delete them yourself using Finder or any other file manager. ClickFile does not retain copies of screenshots beyond what you have saved.

Permissions

ClickFile requests the following macOS permissions:

  • Screen Recording: Required to capture screenshots. This permission is managed through macOS System Settings and can be revoked at any time.
  • Folder Access: Required to save screenshots to your chosen location. You select the folder, and ClickFile only accesses that specific folder.

Data Storage

All data created by ClickFile — including screenshots and folder structures — is stored locally on your Mac in a folder you choose. ClickFile uses macOS security-scoped bookmarks to remember your chosen save location across app launches. This bookmark data is stored in your app preferences on your Mac and is not shared with anyone.

Third-Party Services

ClickFile does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or cloud storage providers. The app is entirely self-contained.

Children's Privacy

ClickFile does not collect any data from any user, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. As ClickFile does not collect any data, there is no way to notify users directly of changes.
